Betwixt and Between: The Cost of Not Following Your Heart

Point B (Birthmom):
I realize that I have four identities inside of me:
The person I was before I got pregnant.
The person I was after relinquishing.
The person I was hiding my story.
The person I am since our reunion.
But never will I be a person again with only one identity.

Point B (Adoptee):
I have always loved Peter Pan. Yet, I never really understood what it was about him that I loved so much until I was in reunion. I have a great relationship with my adoptive family and with my bio family, but I will never be truly whole in either — thus forever being betwixt-and-between.
Image quote (Peter Pan, Point A reference):
“Then I shan’t be exactly human?” Peter asked.
“No.”
“What shall I be?”
“You will be betwixt-and-between,” Solomon said, and certainly he was a wise old fellow, for that is exactly how it turned out.
