The Good Adoptee and the Missing Milestones
Share
Point B:
No matter how wonderful my reunion is with my child and her children, I can never go back and bond with their history of growing up. So even though I know that I’m their bio family, their adoptive family holds the joy of being their mom, dad, and grandparents.

Point A:
One of the lessons I have learned from my journey is that I have been more focused on the well-being of others than of myself, even during the times of my personal struggles. I am constantly torn between the “good adoptee” and the “who I was born to be” mentalities. This has cost me dearly. I have one adoptive sibling and four half-siblings, yet I feel like I am an only child.
